Mountain-Ready Finishes | Mid Canon Hideaway
Nestled in the rugged beauty of Montana’s Missouri River valley region, Mid Canon Hideaway is a private residential addition that embraces everything we love about mountain living—comfort, purpose, and a connection to the landscape. Perched above the Missouri River with expansive views and peaceful surroundings, this project is a reflection of our clients' desire to live simply, beautifully, and in tune with their beautiful countryside.

Mountain-Ready Finishes | Mid Canon Hideaway
In our last post, we shared the vision behind the design of Mid Canon Hideaway—how we planned the layout, prioritized functionality, and helped the client visualize their future space. Now it’s time to dig into the material and finish selections that will bring this space to life.
When designing for rural Montana, materials need to do more than look good. They need to be durable, low-maintenance, and feel part of the home. For this project, we curated a palette that blends natural warmth, weather-resistant finishes, and a quiet, modern rustic aesthetic.

Exterior Materials: Durable + Timeless
The home’s addition will feature:
Modern metal siding with a matte finish, selected for its fade resistance and durability
A standing seam metal roof, built to withstand wind and snow while adding a crisp architectural line
A new composite deck with cable railings and steel posts that opens up the view while staying low-maintenance over time
Together, these exterior materials reinforce the home’s rugged setting while giving it a refreshed, elevated look.

Interior Palette: Rustic, Natural, Intentional
Inside the home, the finishes were chosen with simplicity and longevity in mind:
LVT flooring with a warm, weathered wood tone for durability and warmth
Semi-Custom cabinetry in a natural wood and bright, clean finishes with rustic hardware to match the home’s rustic-modern blend
Tile selections that echo neutral soft textures and tones—perfect for daily use
Matte black plumbing fixtures, adding contrast without feeling trendy
Every choice is meant to feel timeless and calm, grounded in the natural colors you find just outside the door—sage greens, warm woods, and soft, subtle neutrals.

Functional Beauty
This is where design really meets purpose. From mudroom flooring that can handle snowy boots to a bathroom that feels like a retreat, every surface was selected to support how the clients live, without sacrificing beauty.
We believe that finishes should feel intentional, not just installed. And in a home like this, where nature is always part of the backdrop, the materials should quietly complement the view—not compete with it.
